‘Boban Mania’ Worries Spurs’ Gregg Popovich
Boban Marjanovic, all 7-foot-3 of him, went to the foul line in the fourth quarter of the Spurs’ 112-79 blowout victory of Phoenix on Wednesday at the AT&T Center and a few fans in the crowd went temporarily insane.
“M-V-P!” came the chant in the mostly quiet arena.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was not amused.
“Sometimes it actually worries me,” Popovich said of the phenomenon that has come to be known as “Boban Mania.” “I think the crowd, they really get a kick out of him and all that, but he’s a basketball player. He’s not some sort of an odd thing.”
