CHICAGO — Point guard Derrick Rose sat out the Chicago Bulls’ game against the New York Knicks on Thursday due to an illness.

Rose also missed the morning shootaround and is questionable for Friday’s game at Memphis against the Grizzlies.

He was absent for a ninth game of the season, though he played each of the previous 11 before Thursday.

Rose missed most of last season due to a torn meniscus, and he was sidelined for stretches earlier this season because of two sprained ankles and a strained hamstring.

The 26-year-old former NBA Most Valuable Player is averaging 16.8 points, 5.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game in 2014-15. He scored a season-high 31 points on Dec. 12 against the Portland Trail Blazers.
