Cleveland Cavaliers point Kyrie Irving was scheduled to undergo an MRI Monday after injuring his left biceps during Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that Irving could miss the rest of the season.

Irving leads the Cavaliers with 21.2 points and 6.2 assists per game. He was injured in the first quarter of the 22-point loss and did not return. He had two points on 0-for-5 shooting and four assists.

The All-Star Game MVP had his arm in a sling after the game.

Irving, the No. 1 pick in the 2011 draft, has missed 38 games his first two NBA seasons with injuries including a broken nose, fractured jaw, broken finger, sprained shoulder and concussion.

Guard Jarrett Jack will likely start in place of Irving. The Cavaliers do not practice Monday. Their next game is Tuesday against the visiting Miami Heat.

Cleveland (26-41) is 4 1/2 games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs race.
