Cavs’ May Not Offer Irving Max Deal

It seemed like a foregone conclusion. However, talk around the league is the Cavaliers might not offer two-time All-Star guard Kyrie Irving a maximum contract extension on July 1.

That would be a bit shocking after all we’ve heard up until this point. Many are worried Irving will bolt the first chance he gets. This would have been a vehicle to lock him up for possibly an additional five years.
Scuttlebutt around the league about the reason they wouldn’t make the offer is two-fold. First, the Cavs are not convinced he’s truly a max player. In my opinion, I don’t think he is. I think he’s a fabulous talent who falls just short of being a max player. His teams have yet to sniff the playoffs.
