Temple emphatically ended Kansas’ eight-game winning streak, routing the No. 10 Jayhawks 77-52 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Monday.

The Owls (8-4) shot 58.3 percent from the floor for the game, and used a burst midway through the second half to take control.

Temple led by just six points with 17:28 left in the game, but the Owls went on 15-4 run to take a comfortable 17-point lead.

Temple expanded its lead to 25 points with seven minutes left and coasted home before the Temple fans stormed onto the court after the victory.

Temples three starting guards, Will Cummings, Quenton DeCosey and Jesse Morgan, led the Owls scoring. Cummings had 19 points, DeCosey 18 and Morgan 17.

Frank Mason III scored 20 points for Kansas (9-2), which shot 32.7 percent from the field and committed 17 turnovers.

Kansas’ frontcourt struggled. Forward Perry Ellis, the Jayhawks’ leading scorer, was 1-for-10 from the field and scored five points. Freshman forward Cliff Alexander missed his only field-goal attempt and finished with two points.

No. 6 Wisconsin 68, California 56

Despite playing its first game since Dec. 13, Wisconsin was able to shake off the rust and snap Califronia’s seven-game winning streak.

Cal (10-2) was playing on its home court and was off to its best start in 55 years under first-year coach Cuonzo Martin. But the Bears could never get the deficit below nine points in the second half, and the Badgers built their lead to 18 points with four minutes left.

Forward Nigel Hayes had 17 points and 13 rebounds, for Wisconsin (11-1), while center Frank Kaminsky and forward Sam Dekker had 14 points apiece. Guard Tyrone Wallace led Cal with 17 points.

No. 16 Notre Dame 91, Northern Illinois 66

Guard Pat Connaughton had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Irish (12-1) to an easy victory in South Bend, Ind.

All five starters scored in double figures for Notre Dame, which shot 58.9 percent from the field.

Northern Illinois (4-5) was tied 21-21 in the first half after the Huskies’ Michael Orris hit a three-pointer, but the Irish quickly pulled away.

No. 17 St. John’s 66, Long Beach State 49

Chris Obekpa had 16 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots to lead St. John’s to victory in New York.

St. John’s improved its record to 10-1, and the last time the Red Storm began a season 10-1 was the 1990-91, when they finished 23-9.

Long Beach State lost its fourth straight and fell to 5-8.

No. 18 West Virginia 77, Wofford 44

Juwan Staten had 17 points and 10 rebounds to help West Virginia improve to 11-1, its best start since opening 11-0 in 2009-10 season.

The Mountaineers built an 18-2 lead seven minutes into the game, and the cruised past Wofford (9-3), which committed a season-high 19 turnovers in the face of West Virginia’s pressure defense.

No. 19 Oklahoma 85, Weber State 51

The Sooners set an NCAA Division I record by scoring 39 straight points at one stage of the rout in Norman, Okla.

Oklahoma (8-3) broke the previous record for a scoring run against a Division I opponent of 37 points, set by Utah State against Idaho on Feb. 15, 2006.

Oklahoma’s run began after Weber State scored to cut the Sooners’ lead to 10-4 lead and did not end until Oklahoma had a 49-4 lead.

No. 21 Ohio State 93, Miami (Ohio) 55

Ohio State bounced back from Saturday’s loss to North Carolina by blasting Miami (Ohio) in Columbus, Ohio.

Reserve guard Kam Williams scored 18 points for the Buckeyes, who used a 26-3 run in the first half to take control and improve to 10-2. The RedHawks fell to 3-8.

No. 22 Baylor 70, Southern 66

Baylor barely avoided an upset on its home court in its first game as a ranked team this season.

The game was close throughout, and the Bears (10-1) held only a five-point lead with 1:41 to play. Forward Johnathan Motley, who finished with 19 points, hit two free throws with 38 seconds left to give Baylor a bit of breathing room.
