Deron Williams Slams Nets’ Effort in Opener

The Nets were a steaming hot mess defensively in their first game under Lionel Hollins, as lapses and sloppiness reigned supreme in a 121-105 loss to the Celtics in Wednesday night’s season opener.

“I really have no answer,” Deron Williams said. “We just looked like (junk) out there. We weren’t rotating right. We weren’t helping out. They were getting layup after layup. It’s hard to win like that.”

“We were making so many mistakes in the pick-and-roll, the straight line penetration really hurt us at that point,” Hollins said. “Communication, effort, second effort, third effort.
