DURHAM, N.C. — Fourth-ranked Duke planned to play without center Jahlil Okafor on Saturday against Clemson at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Okafor suffered an ankle injury in the first half Wednesday night against North Carolina. Even though he returned to that game and made a go-ahead basket in overtime, the school announced that he wouldn’t be on the court Saturday, for the first time this season.

Okafor is averaging team highs of 17.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. He has shot 66.1 percent this season while scoring in double figures in every game. That includes 10 double-doubles.

Okafor, 6 feet 11 and 270 pounds, is projected by some to be the first selection in the NBA draft if he turns pro after this season.
