Ex-Hawk Blaylock indicted by grand jury
Former NBA player Mookie Blaylock was indicted by a grand jury on 14 charges, including first-degree vehicular homicide, stemming from a car crash last year in Atlanta.
Blaylock, 47, is accused of causing a May 31, 2013 head-on crash that killed a mother of five and injured her husband. If convicted, the former Atlanta Hawks star could face up to 33 years in prison, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was indicted on Wednesday.
Blaylock spent days in the hospital after being seriously injured in the wreck and was on life support. The newspaper reported that at the time of the accident, Blaylock was being treated for seizures.
Following his release from the hospital, Blaylock surrendered to authorities and was jailed before posting $250,000 bond.
The fatal crash came weeks after Blaylock was arrested and later pled guilty to DUI and hit-and-run charges. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Blaylock, a point guard, spent 13 seasons in the NBA with the Hawks, Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors. During his career, he averaged 13.5 points and 6.7 assists.
