A day after Michigan State sophomore guard Gary Harris declared his intentions to enter the NBA draft, the school announced that forward Branden Dawson will remain with the Spartans for his senior season.

Dawson averaged a career-best 11.2 points per game this past season and helped Michigan State reach the East Regional final in the NCAA Tournament. In wins over Harvard and Virginia, Dawson scored 26 and 24 points, respectively. The Spartans were ousted in the regional final by Connecticut.

The 6-foot-6 Dawson bounced back from knee surgery at the end of his freshman year that hampered him during his sophomore season.

Dawson will be one of the top returnees next season for Michigan State, which loses senior forward Adreian Payne and senior guard Keith Appling in addition to Harris. All three were starters and major contributors the past two seasons.
