Guard Marques Townes made a layup with five seconds left in overtime to provide Fairleigh Dickinson with an 85-84 victory over host Towson on Monday.

Townes finished with 18 points off the bench for the Knights (5-6), who won for just the second time in seven road contests this season. Guard Darian Anderson scored 23 points, while guard Mustafaa Jones added 17 for Fairleigh Dickinson.

Guard Four McGlynn scored 27 points for Towson (7-6), which has lost five straight games. Forward Timajh Parker-Rivera and forward John Davis each scored 15 points for the Tigers, who won the rebound battle 47-24.

After trailing by 14 at the break, the Knights chipped away and eventually tied the game at 73 on a layup by Townes with 2:24 remaining in regulation. Less than a minute later, forward Darius Stokes gave Fairleigh Dickinson its first lead since the opening minutes, 75-73.

Towson responded and a layup and free throw by Parker-Rivera provided a one-point lead with 1:29 left. However, the Knights had a couple of key defensive stops and Townes made two free throws as Fairleigh Dickinson led by a point with 13 seconds left.

The Tigers sent the game to overtime on a free throw by forward Eddie Keith II with one second remaining. Towson converted just two field goals in the final 12 minutes of regulation and 15 of its final 17 points came at the free-throw line.

In the extra period, the teams traded shots until a jumper and pair of free throws by McGlynn gave the Tigers an 83-80 cushion with 1:07 left. However, Anderson answered with another 3-pointer that tied the game again with 41 seconds remaining.

After the Towson took an 84-83 lead on a free throw by Parker-Rivera, Townes made the game-winning layup in the closing seconds.
