Fairleigh Dickinson 89, Princeton 85

Sophomore guard Matt MacDonald scored a career-high 29 points, and Fairleigh Dickinson rallied for an 89-85 victory over visiting Princeton on Wednesday at Rothman Center in Teaneck, N.J.

MacDonald made eight of 12 field-goal attempts and easily surpassed his previous career high of 21 points, set last season against Hofstra. Senior guard Mustafaa Jones scored 22 points, freshman guard Darian Anderson had 17, and freshman guard Earl Potts Jr. added 11 for Fairleigh Dickinson (3-3).

Junior forward Hans Brase had 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead Princeton (2-6). Sophomore forward Spencer Weisz scored 16 points, and senior guard Clay Wilson came off the bench to score 15.

Fairleigh Dickinson held a 10-6 lead after Anderson made a 3-pointer, but Princeton mounted a 10-0 run to take a 16-10 lead on a 3-pointer by Wilson near the midpoint of the first half. The Tigers went up 22-13 on two free throws by Brase, but the Knights battled back, cutting the deficit to one on a dunk by senior forward Darius Stokes.

Princeton ended the half with a 7-0 run to take a 33-25 lead at the break. The Tigers shot 50 percent in the opening half while holding the Knights to 37 percent shooting.

Princeton continued to maintain a comfortable lead until midway through the second half when Fairleigh Dickinson staged a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 53-52 on a 3-pointer by Potts with 9:17 to play. The Knights tied the game moments later when Jones made a 3-pointer to spark a 16-0 run that gave Fairleigh Dickinson a 68-57 lead with 4:26 remaining.

The Tigers got within two on a later 3-pointer by sophomore guard Khyan Rayner, but the Knights withstood the charge.
