Boston Celtics second-year center Vitor Faverani traveled to Spain this weekend to get a second opinion on a balky left knee and, pending the results, could require a second minor surgery to alleviate lingering swelling.

Faverani underwent surgery in March to repair a torn meniscus and had hoped to be ready for the start of training camp, but has been sidelined for nearly all of the the team’s activities this month due to the swelling. Stevens said earlier this week that Faverani has undergone a series of MRIs with Celtics’ team doctors, but that they had not revealed any obvious change, but Faverani remains bothered by pain and swelling.
