Florida coach Billy Donovan is reaping the rewards of his success, signing a three-year extension that boosted his average salary to $3.7 million in the final six years of the contract.

The deal runs through the 2018-19 season and includes $3.9 million this season and $3.681 million for each of the next five years.

Donovan has led the top-ranked and top-seeded Gators (34-2) into the NCAA Sweet 16 after becoming the first team in Southeastern Conference history to post an 18-0 record in regular-season SEC games.

His career accomplishments include two national championships and a 449-168 record in 18 seasons at the school.

Donovan’s bonuses this season include $50,000 for winning the SEC regular-season title and $25,000 as the SEC tournament champion, $75,000 for advancing to the Sweet 16, $50,000 for finishing in the top 10 in the final Associated Press poll and $25,000 as the AP’s SEC coach of the year.

He can earn additional bonus money the farther the Gators advance in the NCAA Tournament.
