Grizzlies’ Conley plans to play Saturday

A strained right hamstring will not keep Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley from playing Saturday in Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Conley tweaked the hamstring during the third quarter of the Grizzlies’ 100-84 loss in Game 6 on Thursday night. He returned briefly in the fourth quarter but left again rather than risk further injury.
“You’re not supposed to play through it, they say,” Conley said. “I’ve got deaf ears right now. I’m going to get treatment on it and be as good as I can be.”
Conley initially hurt the hamstring three weeks ago during a regular-season game against the Phoenix Suns. He has undergone treatment since Thursday night’s game and was a limited participant in practice on Friday.
In the series against the Thunder, Conley is averaging 15.2 points, 7.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds. The winner of Saturday’s game advances to the Western Conference semifinals.
“I’m feeling sore, it’s tight, but it’s not as bad as I thought it would feel,” Conley said. “It’s very frustrating, I want to be there for my team.”
Nick Calathes, the Grizzlies’ backup point guard, is suspended, leaving Beno Udrih to absorb the minutes that Conley does not take.
