The Memphis Grizzlies waived guard Kalin Lucas and center Hassan Whiteside on Thursday, one day after the team signed the two players.

Lucas and Whiteside joined the Grizzlies before Wednesday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors after five Memphis players became ill with a stomach virus. Two others were added to the list Thursday.

Guards Tony Allen, Courtney Lee and Beno Udrih, forwards Jon Leuer and Jarnell Stokes, guard-forward Quincy Pondexter and center Kosta Koufos are ill and remain questionable for Friday night’s game against the Boston Celtics.

Pondexter and Stokes joined the sick list Thursday. The other five didn’t play in a 96-92 loss to the Raptors on Wednesday because of the virus.

Lucas had one steal in six minutes in his NBA debut on Wednesday. He played eight preseason games before being waived Oct. 25. Lucas aslo was with the Grizzlies from Nov. 4 to Nov. 9.

The 7-foot Whiteside, who signed with Memphis on Sept. 25, played in five preseason games this year for the Grizzlies but not in a regular-season game. The 25-year-old was with the Sacramento Kings from 2010 to 2012.
