The overnight rating for ABC’s telecast of Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night was down 2 percent compared to last year, according to Sports Business Daily.

Thursday’s game between the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat earned a 10.4 overnight rating. The host Spurs won 110-95.

Last year’s Game 1 between the same two teams drew a 10.6 overnight. It was also down 12 percent from the Heat-Oklahoma City Thunder’s NBA Finals opener in 2012, which had an 11.8.

Despite that, the rating represented the 38th straight night that an NBA Finals game was the highest-rated TV program. It earned a 40.4 local rating in San Antonio and a 30.5 rating in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale.

The telecast peaked at a 12.7 rating during its final 15 minutes.
