The Charlotte Hornets designated forward Jeffrey Taylor to the Austin Spurs of the NBA Development League for assignment, team general manager Rich Cho announced on Sunday.

Taylor, a third-year forward from Vanderbilt, was suspended for 24 games by the NBA in November after he pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges.

Using the NBA’s flexible assignment rule, the Hornets assigned Taylor to Austin instead of its affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. At the time of Taylor’s designation, the Mad Ants already had two NBA wing players on its roster.

The Hornets also assigned forward Noah Vonleh to the D-League.

“As with Noah’s situation, we think that Jeffery will benefit greatly by getting additional game action,” Cho said. “Our depth at the wing position has limited his minutes and this D-League assignment will allow him to get some valuable playing time.”

Taylor has seen action in three games for the Hornets this season, averaging 1.0 point and 1.3 rebounds in 6.0 minutes.
