Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith was out against the Charlotte Hornets because of a sore right ankle.

The Cavaliers said Smith tweaked the ankle Friday night against Washington. Mike Dunleavy started at shooting guard Sunday for the defending champions, who beat the Hornets 100-93 for an 8-1 start to the season.
