Jackson’s Stubbornness on Triangle Hurting Fisher?

There also was a raft of sympathy from league personnel for (Knicks Coach Derek) Fisher being forced — under orders from team president Phil Jackson — into running a triangle offense nobody else in the league runs.

“My sense is nobody is doing it well — not Fish, not Phil,’’ one league personnel director said. “Phil is very stubborn and not the most adaptable person. And the bits and pieces I’ve seen, it’s not very triangle-like.’’

Asked if he had any advice for Fisher — such as abandoning the triangle — (Hubie) Brown said: “The advice now comes from up above. Phil Jackson is saying they’re going to stay with the triangle and teach the triangle. It doesn’t matter what anyone outside the organization thinks. It now comes down to the coaching staff adhering to the situation and then continue to work on the spacing. The spacing is not there.”
