Lafayette had four players finish in double figures and pulled away late in the second half to beat Loyola-Maryland 84-71 on Monday in Baltimore, Md., and advance to the Patriot League tournament quarterfinals.

The Leopards (11-19, 7-12 Patriot League) earned a date with top-seeded Boston University on Wednesday. The Greyhounds (11-19, 6-13) ended their first season in the conference with the opening-round home loss.

Lafayette led 42-35 at the half after closing on a 10-3 run. The Greyhounds cut it to three at 53-50 on a pair of free throws by guard Jarred Jones with 12:41 to play, but the Leopards went on a 14-6 run and cruised home from there.

Guard Seth Hinrichs scored 22 points to lead the Leopards. Guard Joey Ptasinski added 18, guard Nick Linder had 14, and guard Bryce Scott finished with 12. Lafayette had no problems solving Loyola’s defense, shooting 63.6 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from three-point range.

Guard Jarred Jones led the Greyhounds with 28 points off the bench, and he also pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked two shots. Point guard R.J. Williams dished out 10 assists.

Loyola went 2-7 in its final nine games after senior guard Dylon Cormier was lost for the season with a broken hand suffered against Army on Feb. 1.
