The Los Angeles Lakers are involved in trade talks involving Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love, according to reports.

The discussions include the Lakers sending the No. 7 draft pick to the Golden State Warriors for guard Klay Thompson. The Warriors would then send that pick to the Timberwolves for Love.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the Lakers are interested in the deal but the Warriors are not sure if they want to trade away Thompson and break up their starting backcourt — even to get Love.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the Warriors have not agreed with any of the Timberwolves’ proposals and do not want to part with Thompson.

The Timberwolves are not anxious to trade Love, who can opt out of his contract at the end of next season and become a free agent. However, they are listening to offers so they can get compensation for Love before he opts out.

Thompson would give the Lakers a reliable shooter, scorer and defender in the backcourt. Also, they have just three players under guaranteed contracts for next season: aging guards Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash and center Robert Sacre.
