Guard George Martin scored 15 points and Long Island University-Brooklyn was too much for NJIT defensively in a 65-49 victory on Sunday in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Guard Martin Hermannsson added 12 points and forward Nura Zanna added 11. LIU outrebounded NJIT 46-37 and made 16 free throws to help ice the game.

The Blackbirds, which broke a six-game losing streak to start the season with an 83-70 victory over Maine in its last game, won its second in a row.

NJIT held a one-point lead with six minutes left in the first half and trailed by only 32-31 at the half.

The Highlanders took a 37-35 lead five minutes into the second half, but LIU then scored 11 straight points to take command.
