The Philadephia 76ers, after selecting Louisiana-Lafayette point guard Elfrid Payton with the 10th overall selection, have agreed to a trade with the Orlando Magic for European star Dario Saric, who was taken with the 12th overall selection.  Orlando, who needed to draft a point guard after passing on Dante Exum for Aaron Gordon at pick #4, traded Saric, a future second-round pick and the first-round pick they got from Philadelphia in the Dwight Howard trade in order to land the promising young point guard. Philadelphia, then, amasses more future draft considerations while using both lottery picks on players that likely won’t suit up for the team this year. Saric just signed a three-year deal in Turkey that will keep him from the NBA for at least two seasons, while Joel Embiid’s back issues could sideline him for the 2014-2015 season should Philly take the same precautions with him as they did Nerlens Noel. They’re in no hurry to get better, apparently, but Orlando is, hence the move for Payton.
