In their non-conference finale, the Marquette Golden Eagles soared to their fourth straight win with an 81-53 victory over the Morgan State Bears on Sunday at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

This was a game Marquette (8-4) controlled from the start. The Golden Eagles made 10 of their first 16 shots from the floor and finished shooting 60 percent.

The key stretch of the game came during the first half with Morgan State (2-11) going scoreless for 9:27 while the Golden Eagles went on a 14-0 run to extend their lead to 28-9 with just under four minutes remaining.

Marquette had six players finish scoring in double figures.

Leading the way was sophomore center Luke Fischer, who played 28 minutes off the bench and tallied team-highs of 15 points on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting and nine rebounds. Senior forward Juan Anderson had 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while senior guard Matt Carlino posted 11 points and a team-high seven assists.

As for Morgan State, their lone bright spot on the afternoon was junior forward Cedric Blossom. He was the only Bear to reach double figures scoring, as he posted a game-high 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting.

While Marquette opens Big East play at DePaul on New Year’s Eve, Morgan State returns to action Tuesday with a road game at UC-Riverside.
