NBA game roundup: Love, Cavs edge Bucks

CLEVELAND — Kevin Love had 27 points and 10 rebounds, and the Cleveland Cavaliers received an unlikely second-half contribution from Mike Miller to win their fourth straight game, a 111-108 victory Tuesday night over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Searching for a spark after getting just two points from his bench in the first half, Cavs coach David Blatt turned to the little-used Miller, a guard who hadn’t played at all during the Cavs’ winning streak.

Miller hit a big 3-pointer in the third quarter to cool the Bucks’ momentum, then provided a big block and another critical 3-pointer in the final minutes. It was his first game with multiple 3-pointers this season after entering the night shooting 20 percent (3-for-15) from deep.

Cleveland forward LeBron James added 26 points and 10 assists, and guard Kyrie Irving had 28 points and six assists. Milwaukee forward Jabari Parker, whom the Cavs passed on with the No. 1 pick in June’s draft, followed up his 19-point performance Saturday against the Houston Rockets with 22 points and eight rebounds Tuesday.

Hawks 109, Celtics 105

ATLANTA — Guard Kyle Korver scored 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting, and backup point guard Dennis Schroder helped fuel Atlanta’s massive second-half comeback that took place with point guard Jeff Teague on the bench.

The Celtics led by as many as 23 and scored 66 points in the first half, but went into the tank in the second half and dropped their fifth straight game.

Boston point guard Rajon Rondo finished with 19 assists, 12 rebounds and two points.

Lakers 106, Pistons 96

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Jordan Hill powered for 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Kobe Bryant overcame a scoreless first half to contribute 12 points and a season-high 13 assists as Los Angeles downed Detroit.

Lakers reserve guard Nick Young contributed 19 points, power forward Carlos Boozer added 14, and small forward Wesley Johnson chipped in 13.

Bryant had all 12 of his points in the third quarter, when Los Angeles outscored Detroit 35-20.

Nets 98, Knicks 93

NEW YORK — Brook Lopez collected 23 points and eight rebounds, and Brooklyn nearly squandered a 16-point lead before holding on for a victory over New York at Madison Square Garden.

Joe Johnson added 19 of his 22 in the second half, and Deron Williams added 19 and five assists for the Nets, who beat the Knicks for the second time this season.

Forward Carmelo Anthony scored 20 for the Knicks, who dropped their fifth straight. Anthony shot 2-for-12 in the second half and missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer with 8.9 seconds remaining.
