WASHINGTON — Derrick Rose scored eight of his game-high 25 points over the final 3 1/2 minutes, and the Chicago Bulls fended off the Washington Wizards 99-91 on Tuesday in a long-awaited rematch between Rose and Washington guard John Wall.

Forward Pau Gasol scored 18 points for the Bulls, who outscored the Wizards 8-1 late in the fourth quarter after Wall led a late charge that put Washington up 87-86 with 3:44 left.

Wall scored 10 of his 18 points during the final-period rally.

Chicago (19-9) earned its fourth consecutive victory and won for the seventh time in eight games.

The Wizards (19-8) have lost two straight since matching the best start in franchise history. The Phoenix Suns snapped Washington’s eight-game home winning streak Sunday.

Rose and Wall, both former No. 1 overall draft picks, met for only the fifth time since Wall entered the league in 2010. Injuries, most recently to Rose’s knee, had prevented the two from playing in the same game since Jan. 30, 2012.

“It’s fun to have (Derrick) back out there,” Wall said. “It’s great for the game of basketball. Its great competition and a great battle for me. They came out with a win tonight. I would have been happier if we got the win.”

Cavaliers 125, Timberwolves 104

CLEVELAND — In their first meeting since headlining one of the NBA’s most talked-about offseason trades, Minnesota’s Andrew Wiggins outshined Cleveland’s Kevin Love. But Cleveland pulled away late in the third quarter to secure its fourth victory on a five-game homestand.

Wiggins scored 27 points to lead Minnesota.

Love left briefly after banging his thumb against former teammate Gorgui Dieng under the basket, but Love returned and finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Guard Kyrie Irving scored 29 points for Cleveland, and LeBron James scored 24.

Magic 100, Celtics 95

ORLANDO, Fla. — Tobias Harris scored 19 points to help Orlando snap a four-game losing streak.

Forward Kyle O’Quinn had 18 points and 13 rebounds, and center Nikola Vucevic had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Orlando.

The Celtics were led by center Tyler Zeller (22 points and 10 rebounds) and guard Avery Bradley (20 points).

Pacers 96, Pelicans 84

INDIANAPOLIS — Guard George Hill, who missed the season’s first 28 games with a knee injury, returned to lead Indiana with 15 points.

Center Roy Hibbert added 14 points and forwards Solomon Hill and David West each added 13.

New Orleans forward Anthony Davis led all scorers with 21 points.

Nets 102, Nuggets 96

NEW YORK — Forward Joe Johnson scored 27 points as Brooklyn beat Denver.

Johnson made 11 of 19 shots and hit three clutch shots in the fourth quarter. It was Johnson’s eighth game with at least 20 points.

Point guard Ty Lawson had 29 points and eight assists for Denver, which dropped its sixth straight road game.

76ers 91, Heat 87

MIAMI — The 76ers, owners of the worst record in the NBA, rallied from a 23-point, third-quarter deficit to defeat Miami.

The 76ers (4-23) received a team-high 20 points from point guard Michael Carter-Williams en route to their second consecutive win.

Miami already has lost more home games than it did last season, when it went 32-9 in AmericanAirlines Arena. The Heat’s home record is now 5-10.

Hawks 107, Clippers 104
