SAN ANTONIO — Manu Ginobili scored 20 points — 14 in the second half — in the season opener as defending champion San Antonio defeated Dallas 101-100 Tuesday, the Spurs’ their 10th consecutive regular-season victory over the Mavericks.

Guard Tony Parker led the Spurs with 23 point. Parker hit a 3-point shot — his fourth of the game — to give the Spurs their margin of victory with 1:07 remaining.

Dallas forward Chandler Parsons missed a long 3-pointer with one second left.

Guard Monta Ellis led Dallas with 26 points. Forward Dirk Nowitzki scored 18, one more than guard Devin Harris.

Pelicans 101, Magic 84

NEW ORLEANS — Forward Anthony Davis scored 26 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and matched his career high with nine blocked shots, and Ryan Anderson buried three consecutive 3-pointers in the final 45 seconds of the third quarter to break open a close game and power New Orleans to a victory over Orlando.

New Orleans closed the final 67 seconds of the third quarter on an 11-0 run, thanks to Anderson’s surge to extend their lead to 78-64. Anderson finished with 22 points.

Davis canned a 16-foot jumper to begin the 11-0 run. He is the only player other than Elton Brand in the last 30 seasons to have at least 20 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocks in an NBA season opener.

Tobias Harris led the Magic with 25 points before exiting in the fourth quarter with a left leg injury. Center Nikola Vucevic had 15 points and 23 rebounds.
