The Miami Heat announced Saturday that Chris Bosh will miss the remainder of the season, while being treated for blood clots on one of his lungs.

Bosh is receiving care under the guidance of Miami Heat team physicians at a Baptist Health System Hospital.

The star forward “is currently resting comfortably. Chris is OK and his prognosis is good,” the team said in a statement.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Friday that he was confident that Bosh’s condition is not life-threatening.

However, this is a particularly scary moment for Bosh and the NBA after former Portland Trail Blazers star Jerome Kersey died suddenly Wednesday of a blood clot in his lung. Kersey was 52.

Bosh, 30, was admitted to the hospital on Thursday after complaining about discomfort in his chest for several days.

With multiple clots, Bosh would be treated with blood thinners for pulmonary embolism. The medication required to treat such a condition typically requires at least six months of limited physical activity.

—Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant missed Saturday night’s game against the Charlotte Hornets because of a nagging foot injury.

Durant struggled with the injury during Thursday’s 104-89 win over the Dallas Mavericks and didn’t practice Friday. Durant was held to 12 points on 4-of-14 shooting and he left the game early for the second consecutive contest due to a sore right foot.

Durant, who is averaging 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 27 games this season, underwent surgery on his foot in October to repair a Jones fracture.

—Center Kendrick Perkins finalized a buyout with the Utah Jazz and will sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Perkins’ decision was first reported by USA Today, and Perkins and LeBron James confirmed it via Twitter.

Perkins, 30, was traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Jazz on Thursday in a three-team deal, and James recruited him to Cleveland, a source told ESPN.com.

—The Philadelphia 76ers waived veteran forward Andrei Kirilenko after he was suspended last month for not reporting to the team when he was traded from the Brooklyn Nets.

On Dec. 11, the 76ers traded forward Brandon Davies to the Nets for Kirilenko, a second-round pick in the 2020 draft, guard Jorge Gutierrez and cash. Kirilenko appeared in no games with the Sixers.

Kirilenko, 33, hasn’t played since Nov. 13 and only has played in seven games this season, averaging 0.4 points and 1.1 rebounds.

—The Heat signed forward Henry Walker to a 10-day contract.

Walker has appeared in 17 games (eight starts) for the Heat’s NBA Development League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, this season. He has averaged 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 27.8 minutes while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 44.8 percent from 3-point range.

—Center Earl Barron signed a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns.

The 7-footer has averaged 20.3 points and 10.9 rebounds in 27 games this season with the Bakersfield Jam, the Suns’ NBA Development League affiliate.

—The Detroit Pistons signed forward Quincy Miller to a 10-day contract.

The 6-foot-9, 210-pound Miller joins the Pistons after spending parts of the 2014-15 season with the Sacramento Kings and the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Developmental League.
