NBA roundup: Kings’ Cousins still battling viral infection

Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins underwent additional evaluation in a hospital Tuesday night as he continues to recover from a viral infection.

The team announced that team physicians, led by Dr. Jason Brayley of Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, admitted DeMarcus to the hospital for treatment and rest. The Kings said his condition is improving daily and a full recovery is anticipated. He was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

Cousins will not be in uniform this weekend, with his return expected by next week. He missed his third consecutive game on Tuesday night. He leads the Kings in scoring (23.5 points per game), rebounding (12.6), blocks (23) and steals (17).

—Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova is out indefinitely after suffering a broken nose during the second quarter of Tuesday night’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland.

Ilyasova also exhibited symptoms of a mild concussion and was held overnight at Cleveland Clinic. The Bucks said Ilyasova would miss Wednesday night’s home game against the Dallas Mavericks and was not expected to travel to Dallas and Oklahoma City for subseqent road games.

The 27-year-old Ilyasova is averaging 10.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game this season.

—The Memphis Grizzlies recalled forward/center Jarnell Stokes from Iowa of the NBA Development League on Wednesday.

Stokes began his second assignment with Iowa on Dec. 1. The 6-foot-9, 263-pounder recorded 15 points and eight rebounds in 22 minutes in his Iowa regular-season debut on Dec. 2 at Fort Wayne. During his first assignment in Iowa (Nov. 8-10), he posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds on Nov. 8 against Sioux Falls in an exhibition played in Memphis at FedExForum.

Stokes, 20, has totaled eight points and seven rebounds on 3-of-3 shooting in 21 minutes through six appearances for the Grizzlies this season.
