NBA Rumors: Clippers Interested in Prince?

Tayshaun Prince was dealt to the Boston Celtics from the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the Jeff Green trade, but he was only included as a filler contract to make the numbers work.

It’s clear that Prince isn’t part of Boston’s plan going forward, which is why it seems inevitable that they will trade or waive him.

Prince is in the final year of his contract and is making $7,707,865 this season. If he’s bought out, he would be an unrestricted free agent and could sign with the team of his choice.

The Clippers have been linked to a number of veteran small forwards throughout the season, so it’s no surprise that they’re reportedly interested in Prince.

Still, it remains to be seen if the 34-year-old would be a solution for Los Angeles, as his game has declined significantly in recent years. This season, prior to being traded, he was averaging 7.3 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from the field.

Prince is in his 13th NBA season, and has career averages of 11.9 points and 4.5 rebounds. He has appeared in 140 playoff games and won a championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004.

It was only a matter of time until Quincy Miller joined an NBA team, as he had been playing exceptional basketball with the Reno Bighorns of the D-League.

He was widely regarded as one of the best players available in the D-League, and now he’ll have a chance to show what he can do on the Kings over the next 10 days. Reno is the Kings’ D-League affiliate, so they had been watching his progress throughout the season.

Miller was leading the D-League in scoring with 26.3 points per game (on 52.2 percent from the field) and blocks with 3.7 per game, while also averaging 7.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals. He had appeared in 14 games with the Bighorns, including a dominant showing at the D-League Showcase on Friday in which he recorded 35 points (on 12-15 from field), 9 blocks and 8 boards. A number of teams reached out after this performance, and Miller inked the deal with Sacramento shortly after.

Originally selected by Denver with the 38th overall selection in the 2012 NBA Draft, Miller posted averages of 4.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 59 games over two seasons for the Nuggets.

The Kings’ roster now stands at 15 players.

This was somewhat of a surprise, but the Spurs waived Daye so that they could sign JaMychal Green to a 10-day contract.

Green spent training camp with San Antonio, and had been playing with the Austin Spurs of the NBA D-League. He was averaging 23 points and 10.9 rebounds through 20 games in the D-League, and had received interest from a number of teams before ultimately agreeing to this deal with the Spurs.

Daye, who was obtained by San Antonio on Feb. 20, 2014, appeared in 26 games for the Spurs this season, averaging 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.3 minutes. His deal was worth $1,063,384.

Just four games ago, Daye had a 22-point, 10-rebound performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 26-year-old is free to sign with another team once he clears waivers.
