NBA: Spurs’ Arena Will Have Air by Game 2
Rod Thorn, the NBA’s president of basketball operations, vowed that the AT&T Center will be restored to full function for Sunday’s Game 2 after the arena’s air conditioning system failed Thursday during the opening contest of the Finals between the Spurs and Miami.
“We have from now until Sunday to get it fixed,” Thorn said after the game. “We do not foresee any problems at all come Sunday. We think it will be fixed and we will be able to play under normal conditions. They expect everything to be perfect, and that’s what we expect to.”
AT&T Center officials blamed the malfunction on electrical issues. Thorn said neither he nor the game officials considered delaying or postponing the game after being told that the system could not be immediately restored.
