Joe Dumars will not return next season as Detroit Pistons president of basketball operations, but will stay with team as executive adviser, the Detroit Free Press reported on Sunday.

Dumars, who played alongside Isiah Thomas during the team’s “Bad Boy” era and won NBA titles in 1989 and 1990, has run the organization for 14 seasons.

Dumars took over as president of basketball operations before the 2000-01 season. He was named the league’s executive of the year in 2003 and the Pistons went on to win the title in 2004.
