Lamar fired coach Pat Knight on Sunday after a 3-22 start to the season, including 2-11 in the Southland conference, according to multiple reports.

The school is expected to make a formal announcement later in the day.

Knight, the son of Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight, lasted less than three seasons with Lamar. He guided the Cardinals to the NCAA Tournament in his first season but went 6-50 after that.

“I just didn’t get it done,” Knight told ESPN’s Andy Katz.

Before coming to Lamar, Knight coached Texas Tech for four seasons.
