“Of course I want more,” the second-year Jazz center (Rudy Gobert) said Thursday. “It’s obvious that I want to start, so I just try to get better on the court and help my team.”

An ankle injury to Enes Kanter has put Gobert in the Utah Jazz’s starting lineup temporarily, and the Frenchman has responded well to his opportunity. In five starts this season, the 7-foot-1 Gobert has averaged 9.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and four blocks.

Asked if he’s made his case to stay in the starting five going forward, Gobert demurred.

“I just try to play hard and win the game,” he said. “I’m not the coach. I’m just playing.”
