Source: Damien Wilkins to Sign Contract With Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets plan to sign former N.C. State player Damien Wilkins for a preseason look, an NBA source confirmed Monday.
Wilkins, 35, has played in China, Puerto Rico and the NBA’s development league of late after a 10-year NBA career with five teams. He last played in the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2013.
A 6-foot-6 small forward, Wilkins is the son of former NBA player Gerald Wilkins and a nephew of former NBA All-Star Dominique Wilkins. He left N.C. State with eligibility remaining, originally intending to turn pro. Instead he transferred to Georgia to complete his eligibility. He went unselected in the 2004 NBA draft.
