on

The New Orleans Pelicans have traded point guard Tim Frazier to the Washington Wizards in exchange for the No. 52 overall pick in the draft, a league source told Basketball Insiders.

Frazier is coming off his best season as a pro last season and averaged a career-high 7.1 points and 23.5 minutes per game. The 26-year-old guard filled in admirably for Jrue Holiday starting 35 games and averaging 8.9 points and 6.9 assists in 29.1 minutes per game.

Frazier has a $2 million salary for next season and will become a free agent in the summer of 2018.

Washington adds a backup point guard in Frazier with Brandon Jennings entering unrestricted free agency this summer. Trey Burke is eligible for a qualifying offer but is unlikely to receive one.

New Orleans will now have two second-round draft picks (40 and 52) entering the draft. The Pelicans are now the 10th team with multiple picks second-round picks. They join the Magic (2), Hawks (2), Knicks (2), Rockets (2), Nuggets (2), Suns (2), Jazz (2), Celtics (3) and 76ers (4) as noted in our previous mock draft.
