Sources: Knicks to Waive Lance Thomas

Basketball Insiders

The Knicks have until June 30 to decide whether they want to guarantee $1 million of veteran Lance Thomas’ $7.6 million salary for the 2019-20 season.

The team’s plan as of now is to waive Thomas before that deadline, sources tell SNY’s Ian Begley.

Despite that plan, sources tell Begley that the Knicks have interest in bringing Thomas back as a free agent. The team values Thomas’ leadership, professionalism and the way he has mentored the franchise’s younger players.
