Stephenson Won’t Rush Free Agency Decision
Lance Stephenson enters free agency as arguably the top player of the second tier of players available this summer. The guard had a career year in Indiana last season averaging 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.
According to the Indianapolis Star, Stephenson plans to fully evaluate the market and won’t make a rushed decision on his next destination – although he would prefer to stay in Indiana.
“It might not be necessary to meet with several teams (but) we’re going to be prepared to meet with as many teams as we need to to get Lance in the right situation for the next several years,” Stephenson’s agent Alberto Ebanks said Candice Buckner of The Star. “It would be nice (if) there’s no change and he stays right where he is. We’re going into this being hopefully optimistic that we can come to terms with Larry Bird and the Pacers because we don’t really need variety right now. He’s working well within that system. They’ve drafted him, they’ve developed him and it would be nice to see them deploy him, which I think would happen if he stays there.”
