PHOENIX — Guards Gerald Green and Isaiah Thomas combined for 31 points in the fourth quarter as the Phoenix Suns rallied from a 12-point deficit in the third quarter to hand the Golden State Warriors their first loss of the season, 107-95 on Sunday.

Thomas finished with 22 points and Green added 19 as the Suns denied the Warriors their best start since moving to the Bay Area. Guard Goran Dragic had 19 points and forward Marcus Morris added 17 for the Suns, who had lost three of their last four games but avoided the fourth-quarter shooting woes that have plagued them, outscoring Golden State 36-16 in the period to win going away.

Guard Steph Curry had 28 points, 10 assists and 10 of Golden State’s 27 turnovers. The Suns turned those turnovers into 30 points and hit 12 of 30 3-pointers on the night.

Green gave the Suns their first lead since 6-3 at 83-82 with three free throws with 8:55 left. He extended the lead to 90-86 with a 3-pointer off a Thomas feed with 6:07 to go.

Green hit another three before Marcus Morris capped a 10-1 run with his 3-pointer with 3:43 left, and the Suns had a 100-89 lead. The Warriors never got closer than nine after that.

Forward Draymond Green had 22 points and nine rebounds for Golden State, which played without guard Klay Thompson (sprained right hand). Despite the loss of Thompson and 15 first-half turnovers — five by Curry — the Warriors led by as many as 13 in the first half behind 22 points from their star point guard

Curry had nine points in the first six minutes, and his 3-pointer gave Golden State an early 17-9 lead. The Suns answered with a 16-6 run and took back the lead at 26-25 when Dragic hit the third of his three first-quarter 3-pointers with 1:39 left. Dragic had all 13 of his first-half points in the quarter.

But while Phoenix missed 12 of 16 shots in the second quarter and went more than seven minutes without a field goal, Curry and the Warriors kept scoring.

Curry pushed the Golden State lead to 49-39 with a 3-foot finger roll with 3:41 left. Then seconds after hitting his fourth 3-pointer of the half, Curry doubled back and stole a lazy Marcus Morris pass and maneuvered around him at the basket with a reverse layup to give the Warriors their biggest lead at 54-41. Curry’s two free throws with 10.9 seconds left put Golden State up 58-49 at the half.

The Suns used an early 10-0 run in the third to get close, with a 3-pointer by Marcus Morris cutting the deficit to 62-59. Green responded with nine points in the quarter and forward Marreese Speights capped a run of seven Golden State points to push the Golden State lead back to 12 at 79-67 with 15.4 seconds left.

But Curry picked up his third and fourth fouls of the game in the final two seconds of the quarter. With Curry on the bench, the Suns used a 9-1 run to start the fourth quarter, pulling even at 80 with the first of three Green 3-pointers with 10:14 left.
