Towson came back in both regulation time and overtime to earn a 79-75 victory at Monmouth on Sunday in West Long Branch, N.J.

The Tigers (4-1) trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half, and were down 41-29 at the break. The Hawks led 66-58 with 2:26 to play, but Towson scored the final eight points of regulation to force overtime.

The Tigers capped off the rally when Monmouth guard Justin Robinson fouled Towson guard Four McGlynn while shooting a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left. McGlynn made all three attempts.

Guard Deon Jones missed a jumper at the end of regulation that would have won it for the Hawks.

The teams traded the lead in overtime, with Monmouth (2-2) going up 75-74 on an Andrew Nicholas 3-pointer with 28 seconds left. Forward Alex Gavrilovic hit a 3-pointer to give Towson the lead back with four seconds left. After a Monmouth turnover, McGlynn hit two more free throws for the final margin.

McGlynn’s 27 points led the Tigers, and he made five of his eight 3-point attempts. Forward John Davis finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds as Towson overcame 17 turnovers.

Nicholas, a guard, scored 24 points off the bench to lead the Hawks. Jones added 16, and Robinson 14.
