OAKLAND, Calif. — The Golden State Warriors’ playoff run likely will start without Andrew Bogut.

The 29-year-old center is out indefinitely due to a fractured rib, the team announced Monday.

Bogut said he got hurt Thursday in the Warriors’ 100-99 loss to the Denver Nuggets, but he played through the injury Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers and Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

According to the team, X-rays taken following Sunday’s game showed the break, and a subsequent exam Monday confirmed the diagnosis.

“I put my body on the line and try to take a charge or block a shot, and unfortunately I’ve been on the tail end of them,” Bogut said. “There are some players in the league who are very good strategically at avoiding contact, so I guess I need to watch them and bring that into my game.”

Coach Mark Jackson said the Warriors will move forward without Bogut’s

7.3 points and 10 rebounds per game.

“We’re a no-excuse basketball team,” Jackson said. “The next man stand up. We prepare for this all season long, and it’s going to be a great opportunity for other guys. We move forward, and other guys are expected to step in and fill a role.”

Minnesota Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman, whose team played the Warriors on Monday, said Bogut’s absence will be tough for Golden State to overcome.

“He’s their defender around the basket, and he doesn’t ask for a lot as far as offensively,” Adelman said. “He just kind of does his job, sets screens, is there at the basket area. That’s going to hurt them because he’s kind of their anchor defensively, and with him and Jermaine (O’Neal), they had two pretty good guys there.”
