Just days after the season ended for the Chicago Bulls, center Joakim Noah underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Friday in Chicago.

The cleanout procedure at Rush Oak Park Hospital was performed by team physician Dr. Brian Cole. Rehab is expected to last eight to 12 weeks.

The NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year averaged 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists this season — all career highs. He is just the 14th player in NBA history to average at least 12 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in a season.

The Bulls managed to win 48 games during the regular season without star point guard Derrick Rose, who suffered another knee injury in November and was lost for the season. Chicago was eliminated Tuesday night in the best-of-seven first-round playoff series in five games by the Washington Wizards.
