Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry said the scrutiny over coach Mark Jackson’s job security is unfair.

The Warriors could make a decision on Jackson’s future this week after losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Los Angeles Clippers.

“I love Coach more than anybody, and I think for him to be in a situation where his job is under scrutiny and under question is totally unfair,” Curry said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. “And it would definitely be a shock to me if anything like that were to happen.

“I’m going to voice my support for Coach.”

The Mercury News has reported that “fissures” exist between Jackson and the front office, and that contract extension talks that reportedly took place after last season were cut off.

Jackson is under contract for one more season and the team reportedly has made no final decision on Jackson’s status.

In three seasons, Jackson has guided the Warriors to consecutive playoff appearances, including 51 wins this season.

“What Coach has gone through this year has been unlike anything I’ve seen — just the amount of distractions and the circus that’s been around him and decisions he’s had to make,” Curry said. “We came into the season thinking this was a long-term situation, but obviously he’s been having to answer these questions all year.”

Jackson lost two assistant coaches when the team reassigned Brian Scalabrine in late March after a conflict with Jackson and fired Darren Erman last month for reportedly secretly recording conversations with the coaching staff.

The Warriors could be interested in replacing Jackson with TNT analyst Steve Kerr or Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg, according to the Mercury News.

Kerr, who lives in San Diego, is expected to take the New York Knicks’ coaching job but may also be interested in staying on the West Coast.

Hoiberg, a former NBA player, has been a coaching candidate in the league for the last three years.
