Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson was diagnosed with a moderate strain of his left calf muscle Friday and expected to miss a minimum of one week.

Clarkson, who was injured in the second quarter of Thursday night’s preseason game against the Golden State Warriors, was examined Friday by Dr. Steven Yoon of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.

Clarkson was a second-round pick in this year’s draft. The Lakers acquired him from the Washington Wizards on draft night in a cash move.

As a junior at the University of Missouri last season, Clarkson made second-team All-Southeastern Conference after averaging 17.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

Clarkson also led the Lakers’ summer league team in scoring (15.8 points per game) and rebounding (five boards per game).
