Morgan State senior forward Thair Heath was hospitalized in fair condition late Monday night after a hard fall during the Bears’ road game against Coppin State in Baltimore.

Heath was removed from the court on a stretcher in a neck immobilizer. According to the Baltimore Sun, he was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where X-rays were negative.

With 13:51 left in the first half, Heath drove the lane and was fouled by Coppin State senior forward Michael Murray. Heath was down for nearly 20 minutes, the Sun reported.

“He’s a great kid,” Bears coach Todd Bozeman told the Sun regarding Heath. “(His status Monday night is) a good thing and we’re happy about that. He’s a good kid and he plays hard. He’ll bounce back. He’s a tough kid.”

The Bears won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game 82-77.

In 14 games this season, Heath is averaging 1.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in 6.3 minutes of action. His big performance came in his season debut, when he scored 12 points in 10 minutes against Howard on Dec. 7.

A native of Long Beach, Calif., Heath helped Dominguez High School in Compton, Calif., win a state title before playing one season for San Bernardino Valley College. He is in his third season at Morgan State, and he started 12 games as a junior.
