Mutombo Says Hall Induction ‘will help basketball grow’

Dikembe Mutombo will make a difference across the globe Friday night. He is sure of it. Officially, he already has, but this will be the visual to drive the point home, the actual moment, the very moment, he believes someone will reference a dozen or so years from now about what exactly convinced a kid from a continent with precious little basketball infrastructure that they could make it to the NBA.

A son of Africa, born in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo, still very emotionally and financially connected to his native land, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“It will help basketball grow,” he said Thursday.
