After commissioner Adam Silver lamented some teams’ financial losses and enormous shortfalls that will have to be paid to the players in the coming years, National Basketball Players Association executive director Michele Roberts offered her rebuttal on Thursday.

Ahead of the union’s annual meetings in Las Vegas, Roberts took issue with Silver’s assessment of the NBA’s financial health, saying, “All of the data we have access to indicates that our business is thriving and will continue to do so for the near future.”

In an e-mailed statement to CBSSports.com and other outlets, Roberts needled the commissioner for going public with negotiating points as the two sides head toward a possible opt-out of the collective bargaining agreement in 2017.
