Charlotte Hornets vs Milwaukee Bucks News

The Milwaukee Bucks (13-8)  enter Wednesday’s matchup with the Charlotte Hornets (13-10) as the league’s hottest team, as Giannis Antetokounmpo and co. find themselves on a seven-game winning streak.

It comes to the relief of many Bucks fans, as the defending champions were below .500 at the start of the streak. TO be fair, they had battled with Jrue Holiday’s injury that cost him to miss six of the first eight games. On top of that, Khris Middleton missed time for being placed on the Covid-19 list.

Don’t forget, both Holiday and Middleton had incredibly long summers. Both of them hopped on a plane the day after winning the title to join the rest of Team USA in Tokyo, and then played until the first week of August. If any team had an excuse to start slow, it was the Bucks.

The Hornets, meanwhile, come in on a two-game losing streak. They lost a weird game to the Houston Rockets 146-143 in overtime to give Houston just its third win of the year. The Hornets resumed their road trip to Chicago on Monday and fell 133-119.

Still the Hornets sit just one seed behind the fifth-seed Bucks. The Hornets are eager to wrap up this road trip, as the team is 7-2 at home this season and 6-8 on the road.

Charlotte Hornets vs Milwaukee Bucks Preview

The Bucks will be without center Brook Lopez, as he continues to remain sidelined with a sore back. Donte DiVincenzo is also likely to be out.

The Bucks won’t be the only team with a big out, as Hornets will also be without Mason Plumlee, who has been ruled out with a calf injury.

We know the Hornets can score with anyone. LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier combination could be a top-5 backcourt within the next two years. Miles Bridges has taken another step up this season, but was held to just nine points in the loss to Chicago.

But the problem for Charlotte remains to be on defense. For the athletes they have on the floor at any given time, it feels like the defense should come more naturally. According to TeamRankings, the team ranks 28th in defensive efficiency. Yikes.

Ball has been one of the most fun players to watch in the entire league and has cleaned up some of the defensive stuff. But don’t forget, even with Ball looking like the eventual rookie of the year he became, the team still didn’t play him at the end of ballgames until late in the season, because the defensive IQ wasn’t there yet.

Milwaukee will be relentless on defense as they always are, and this seems like a game where Milwaukee’s primary three can all go for over 20 tonight.

Charlotte Hornets vs Milwaukee Bucks Picks

It might be the square pick, but it’s practically begging me to take it. Give me under 230 points tonight.

I think it will be another high-scoring contest, but with Milwaukee on the roll it’s been on, looking like the champions they are, I just can’t see the Hornets putting up a lot of points tonight.
