With the No. 21 overall pick, the Atlanta Hawks selected forward DeAndre Bembry out of St. Joseph’s.

The forward averaged 17.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game last season, earning Atlantic 10 player of the year honors while leading the Hawks to an A-10 Tournament title. Bembry will enter the league with a reputation for being an all-around contributor.

The Hawks look to be adding additional wing depth in the event incumbent starter Kent Bazemore leaves via free agency this summer. With the salary cap set to explode, Bazemore is a candidate to receive a sizable pay increase and Atlanta’s top priority this summer will be re-signing center Al Horford.

While there are questions on Bembry’s jump shot, the Hawks have been able to turn career role players such as Toronto Raptors forward DeMarre Carroll and Bazemore into highly coveted wing players the past few seasons.
