Carmelo: LeBron Told me Not to Go Off on Critics
On Friday, New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony told ESPN’s Marc Stein that, even if he never wins an NBA championship, he believes he’ll have had a “great career” if he becomes the first U.S. man to win a third gold medal in basketball at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
After receiving some backlash for his perceived indifference toward his lack of NBA postseason success, Anthony took to Instagram on Saturday to post a throwback photo of him and longtime friend/on-court rival LeBron James at a practice before the 2012 London Olympics. Anthony’s caption implied that James had to convince him to “chill” and not “go off” on his detractors on social media following his comments on Friday.
